Service Awards Crystal Recycling Pilot – Redmond Campus

In an effort to acknowledge a change in ways of working and to have more sustainable practices, we’re excited to share that Puget Sound employees are now able to recycle unwanted Microsoft Service Anniversary Crystals, where we will buff and reuse towers in good condition where possible.

This is a pilot program that will allow us to gauge employee interest to potentially expand the program. The success of the program depends on you. We are passionate about sustainability. You are instrumental in helping this be a success!

Employees can drop off unwanted crystal towers in Building 123 reception.

Please do not bring in crystals that are damaged or scratched or chipped, as they cannot be reused. Please leverage local community programs for discard guidelines. The tower material is 100% lead free crystal. The base has a trace amount of epoxy coating.

Please wrap the tower in reused bubble wrap or cardboard or newspaper and put it into a sturdy box (ideally that box that it came in, if still available) to safely transport the crystal for drop off. We will recycle the towers only. Personalized bases cannot be recycled. For larger crystals, please be mindful of safety.

In-person drop off only in Building 123 reception. Interoffice mail is prohibited at this time.

Mailroom reception will visually inspect if the crystal tower(s) to ensure that they are in good enough condition to be reused.  Then, mailroom will ship it back to our crystal supplier Bamko, to be put back into inventory.

In Scope

  • Crystal towers (5, 10, 15, 20 years) in good condition
  • Roller carrier cases (25, 30, 35, 40 years)
  • All presentation gift boxes
  • Cardboard mailer boxes for safe shipping back to the manufacturer

This recycle pilot will be evangelized during pre-move kickoffs with business groups and when employees terminate the company.

We’ve heard from some employees that they have been using the crystals in their gardens as art.

Current and past employees may purchase a replacement crystal from a previous milestone from Bamko. Your Microsoft service tenure will be confirmed with AskHR. You may also use this website to self-purchase replacement crystal sculptures that have been broken or chipped.
