We are all on a journey with our own mental health, and some days are better than others. With Counseling, Assistance, Referrals, Education, and Support, Microsoft CARES can connect you with free, confidential resources for supporting your mental and emotional wellbeing whenever you need them. 

Therapy provides a safe and confidential space to express your thoughts and feelings. It can be a relief to talk to someone who listens without judgment and offers support. Therapy can also help you manage and reduce symptoms of mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and stress. It provides tools and strategies to cope with these and other challenges more effectively.

 

Spring Health is our confidential, free, short-term counseling, work-life resource and referral provider (Employee Assistance Program). Whether you need assistance for a specific issue or just someone to talk to, Spring Health can help you get connected to the right therapist for you.

 

Spring Health offers confidential support for every aspect of your mental and emotional wellbeing, including:

 

  • 24x7 phone line for in-the-moment and crisis support provided by licensed mental health clinicians. 

  • A 5-minute mental health assessment and personalized care plan tailored just for you.

  • Care navigators, who are licensed clinicians, helping to connect you to care and understand options.

  • Up to 24 free short-term therapy sessions per person, per calendar year.

  • Up to 2 of these appointments can be used for medication management. 

  • Ability to select your counselor, see their availability, and book an appointment directly on your Spring Health account.  

  • Professional coaches who can help you set and achieve tangible goals, build new skills, and develop healthier habits. 
  • Additional resources and programs such as Spring Health Moments, Spring Health work-life resources, and access to the Gottman Institute.

Spring Health 24/7 crisis support includes:

  • Immediate access to professional counselors and therapists.

  • Confidential support for personal and work-related issues.

  • Resources for managing stress, anxiety, and other mental health concerns.

  • Guidance on navigating difficult situations and making informed decisions.

Whether it's parenting your children or managing your workload at the office, everybody needs a little help sometimes. If you're also managing the unique perspective of neurodiversity, whether in your child or yourself, it can feel overwhelming. 

 

RethinkCare provides expert-led support to neurodiverse employees and their families at no cost—no diagnosis is required. 

Support at home

Whether you’re looking to solve a particular parenting challenge or you just want tips and ideas, RethinkCare can help with 24/7/365 support tailored to your family’s unique needs. This program is suitable for all families caring for children and provides specialized support for those raising children with learning, social or behavioral challenges or developmental disabilities. RethinkCare’s support at home includes:

  • Virtual Consultations: Get confidential, 1:1 virtual consultations with a dedicated master’s or PhD-level Parenting Expert, available to answer your questions, brainstorm solutions, and help find additional resources for you and your child. Employees can receive six 1:1 consultations per rolling 12 months.

  • Tips and Techniques: Learn helpful tips, coping skills and parenting techniques for a wide variety of challenges that cover all ages and stages of your child’s development

  • Training Courses: Go deeper and take training courses to help you address your child’s behavior, social and emotional growth, attention and focus, academics and much more.

     

Support at work

Professional resilience support provides evidence-based online training courses on professional development, emotional intelligence, managing stress, and fostering environments to support neurodivergent and neurotypical team members. Employees have access to one-on-one consultations with neurodiversity experts to address specific needs. RethinkCare’s support at work includes:

  • 1:1 Expert Consultations: RethinkCare offers free, personalized, virtual consultations with workplace experts to help you with staying organized, maintaining focus, managing time, and regulating emotions. These skills, also known as executive functions, are critical to helping you navigate daily work activities and relationships more effectively. Our experts tailor each conversation around your specific needs. If you are a manager, consultations can help improve your ability to lead inclusively.

  • Meet with On-Staff Experts: Consultations are led by RethinkCare professionals who are experts in working with neurodiverse individuals, including those with autism and ADHD. Consultations are open to all employees - no need for neurodiverse identification or diagnosis.

 

Eligibility

All Microsoft employees globally and their families are eligible. There are no age restrictions, and no diagnosis is required. Participation in RethinkCare is 100% confidential.

Note: RethinkCare is not a request for workplace accommodations. It is a benefit available for employees who want to continue learning and growing with a RethinkCare specialist on their own. 

In today’s fast-paced world, stress can definitely become a challenge. Using simple stress reduction techniques is essential for maintaining physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

 

Headspace

At Microsoft, employees enjoy free access to the Headspace app to learn more about - and engage in - meditation and mindfulness practices to reduce stress, create work/life balance, and get important moments of rest.

 

Eligibility

 

Headspace is available to Microsoft FTEs globally, and employees can invite two (18+) friends or family members to join!

 

Internal, employee-led meditation resources

 

Microsoft also provides a variety of internal, employee-led meditation resources. These include, but are not limited to:

 

Mindful Growth is an in-depth and experiential program for both beginners and experienced meditators alike, designed from the ground up for Microsoft and facilitated by fellow employees. It integrates a wide range of mindfulness-based practices with the latest scientific research into an accessible experience that feels relevant to work and life.

 

Heartfulness Meditation offers a unique approach to inner well-being through heart-centered practice. It is accessible to everyone, requiring no specific beliefs, and focuses on connecting with the heart to achieve calm, balance, and emotional clarity. This simple method of meditation is available to all employees free of cost. Group meditations are offered every week.

Coaching is focused on taking action, and helps employees create the forward movement they need to make personal changes that are practical and sustainable. The coach helps employees define and clarify their goals, create an achievable action plan, and keep them accountable.​

 

With Spring Health, employees globally and their eligible dependents have access to unlimited coaching sessions on personal development, health and wellness, parenting.*

 

Through RethinkCare, employees and their eligible family members can tap into unlimited sessions for coaching on executive functioning, neurodiversity, and parenting neurodiverse children.

 

All US employees and their spouse or domestic partner who are enrolled in a Microsoft medical plan also have free, unlimited access to coaching through Maven. Topics include family planning, pregnancy, parenting, and menopause.

 

*Spring Health is not available in India, Ireland, Germany, and Japan.

Grieving the loss of a loved one is a deeply personal and challenging experience. Microsoft provides a variety of resources to assist those living with grief.

 

Spring Health

Employees and their dependents (spouse/partner, children aged 6-26) can access Spring Health’s Care navigators, who are licensed clinicians, to get connected to care and understand options. Spring Health can offer personalized support to help you navigate your grief journey and your Care Navigator can also provide you with helpful articles and webinars, whether you yourself are grieving or are caring for a grieving loved one. Up to 24 free short-term therapy sessions per person, per calendar year are available.

 

Note: For children under 6 years old, Spring Health will help with referrals.

*Employees in Germany, India, Ireland, and Japan do not have access to Spring Health, but do have local EAPs with grief resources.

 

Headspace

With access to Headspace come on-demand grief resources, right within the app. Meditation courses on grief and injustice, processing sudden loss, navigating change, and acceptance are just a few examples of Headspace materials available to members. Employees have free access to Headspace and can also invite two (18+) friends or family members to join.
