Regular, full-time corporate employees receive 80 hours of paid HHTO per calendar year. Part-time corporate employees receive HHTO at a reduced rate, in accordance with their work schedule.
Retail employees are eligible to accrue up to 80 hours of paid HHTO per calendar year based on hours worked.
U.S. interns and visiting researchers are granted paid sick leave each week worked.
Holistic Health Time Off (HHTO) can be used for several reasons, including:
Recovering from a routine illness or injury
Attending medical and dental appointments
Caring for a family member who is ill
If a business, school, or childcare provider is closed due to a public health closure or emergency
Taking a mental health day or caring for the mental health of an immediate family member
Addressing the psychological, physical, or legal aspects of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or other crimes
Managing a sudden, traumatic crisis or overwhelming situation
Taking preventive care measures for both mental and physical health
Several states have specific notices for sick leave, which are available to employees on Microsoft's internal site. These notices provide detailed information on state-specific sick leave laws and requirements. Employees should review these notices to ensure they’re fully informed about their rights and obligations under state law.
